Making the most of time remaining

Working as a caregiver for the elderly can be a very satisfying yet very taxing job.

I love when I arrive at a client’s house and their face lights up because they’re happy to see me but I am sad when they are having a difficult time.

My most recent client is a wonderful woman who is in her 90s and thankfully she he is more in need of day today maintenance and companionship than medical attention. She does have some confusion problems and needs someone at her home on a daily basis so I spend a lot of time with her. I started to notice that she was having problems with her hands shaking a lot and I asked the family if she had been evaluated recently or any medical conditions that would be causing that. They said that the test had already been done and they were just informed that she was in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. I gave them some information that I carry with me about the use of CBD oil with regards to this disease. Many patients with Parkinson’s disease have experienced relief when using CBD oil to calm the tremors and help with the overall feeling that the patient experiences on a daily basis. The family said that they would look into it because they really didn’t want to use heavy medication as their grandmother was already in her nineties and they wanted her to have the best life possible for as long as she could. It is sad to see that she will be going through this so I hope to make her as happy and comfortable as I can throughout the rest of my time with her.
