I absolutely love it when I get free items with purchases both online & in stores.
For quite a few years before Spotify & AmazonMusic became a thing, I, like numerous others, would buy my music through physical media.
I’m talking about vinyl records, cassette tapes, compact discs, & also the short lived laser discs from the 1970s. I was born in the early 1970s, so for quite a few years all I ever would get was CDs from the record stores I would often frequent. Eventually by the late 1990s I managed to discover this massive CD & record store on the internet called CDUniverse, known for their fondness for including candy with their deliveries. If you were a normal customer, they would ask your candy preference & save the information in a file for the new purchases you would make. Now that we’re decades into the internet as a shopping platform, several others have followed in CDUniverse’s footsteps. Most notably the business I happen to get my cannabis vaporizers from whenever I need a new one. But even the actual cannabis dispensaries in our neighborhood have started to include freebies inside of your shopping tote before you head away from the store. At first you’d just get a free pack of rolling papers & a lighter with the cannabis dispensary’s name on the free items. Then they started offering a couple of pieces of candy with every purchase, sort of playing into the whole thing of smoking marijuana & looking for junk food as a snack. I will never choose to make a complaint, I’ll take a few sleeves of swedish fish every single time with a smile on my face. If I’m incredibly daring, I might get a piece of chocolate instead.
