There was a huge battle when it came to passing medical cannabis

Our state passed a law legalizing medical marijuana a couple of years ago.

It honestly was a long time coming and a pressing battle in the halls and committee meeting rooms of the capitol… Finally, legal cannabis became the law of the land, but it took a pretty long time to implement… There were all kinds of medical marijuana growers who were prepared to harvest.

There were numerous legal cannabis stores set to open for business. There were plenty of medical professionals willing to serve the patients who were willing to try anything that might supply relief, including medical marijuana. Despite this fact, absolutely being able to legally purchase medical cannabis would be a few years in the future. Because multiple people feared that having medical marijuana was just a hop, skip, and jump away from legalizing recreational marijuana use altogether, the legislators put in a good amount of caveats about the way medical cannabis can be ingested, how it can be farmed, how it can be delivered to the patient, what conditions it can be prescribed for, and so on. Because of this, there were a ton of lawsuits against the state saying they were stonewalling the will of the people. While the lawsuits were on the dockets, all medical marijuana growth, harvesting, sales, and use were brought to a full stop. Now that medical cannabis has been legal for a good amount of time, it does appear that recreational marijuana is on the horizon, just as some folks were dreading. There have already been bills presented, and even though they weren’t acted upon, they will surely come up before House and Senate leadership again in this legislative year.
