Thankful to live where the heat pump is king

I guess we all, at some point in our lives, think there is great fortune somewhere other than where we grew up.

I was no different.

So when I got my first job out of college, I readily agreed to move up north for awhile. It was a smart career move but a tough one for me and the HVAC. Having never experienced what a real, northern winter can deliver in cold weather, I had no idea what I was up against. I came from a place where the winter was looked forward to because that meant the air conditioning was actually off for a bit. So going from that to the teeth of winter was really tough. The first few years, I was always on the hunt for heating. At home, I cranked the gas furnace and at work, I even had a space heater at my desk. Once my commitment was up, I scampered south as quickly as I could. Turned out that our company was opening an office not far from where I grew up. I took the job and have never looked back. While I can appreciate the north for the people and the culture, they can keep the winter and the gas furnace. I will happily spend my winters enjoying the heat pump when needed. While the heat pump does most of the work with the HVAC cooling, it does a great job of providing heat as well. I have no one complaint when it comes to leaning on the heat pump when I have to during the winter. I’ll trade the gas furnace for the heat pump just any day of the week.
