I don’t actually have a washer & dryer in my apartment.
It costs roughly $74 extra per month to have a washer & dryer, & I cannot afford to pay all that rent.
It only costs about $40 to scrub all of my pants, shirts, socks, & underwear at the laundromat. Sadly, at times the laundromat is tied up & filled with people, and there are several laundromats in town, although I pretty much always visit the one that is closest to our apartment. It’s only a couple of blocks away, so I don’t have to be bothered trying to get a cab or an uber. I have a pretty nice rolling laundry cart that makes it self-explanatory to take my clothing back & forth to the laundromat by my apartment. Recently, I went to the laundromat on my day off. It was a Friday & I genuinely did not expect the laundromat to be filled with people. There was a group of men resting out front & they were all smoking weed. They weren’t really trying to hide the pre-rolled marijuana cigarette. They sat by the front door & the odor of marijuana filled the whole laundromat. I was looking to complain about the awful stench, but the group of four men looked extremely big, mean, & menacing. I had to use the washers & dryers on the other side of the laundry room, because I did not want my clothing to have a powerful marijuana smell. If I went to my task odoring like weed, my boss would surely want to give me a drug test on the spot… Even though I would pass, it’s still a substantial hassle.
