I never finished my college degree.
Even though I learned a ton about biology during the 3 years that I studied. Biology and math were always my favorite subjects, but during my junior year, my sister got sick and died and I never finished. Eventually, I found a job working in a pharmaceutical lab, and I stayed there for nearly seven years. When the lab was purchased by a hospital, they only kept the staff with a bachelor’s degree or higher. I was sitting around on unemployment for over ten weeks, before I found anything at all. Luckily, my new job has been fantastic. I was hired by a medical marijuana research facility, they perform several different types of research on medical marijuana as well as its effects.. I’m currently working in a lab that is testing the effects of marijuana on dementia patients. It’s a really fun job, and I learn something new everyday. I also meet great patients. When I applied for the job at the medical marijuana research facility, I really did not expect to be hired. After all, I’m really nothing more than a college dropout with one job before this. Luckily, they saw something that I didn’t. I make a wonderfully nice salary, and I also have vacation days, medical benefits, and a retirement plan. I like going to work every afternoon, and my coworkers do not care if I graduated with a degree or not. Everyone seems to be happy to work on the research. I would be happy to make this place my home. I could really see myself retiring from this place one day.
