Oftentimes people will choose their work paths early on. Even as a child you may aspire to be an educator, nurse, lawyer or some other profession where you think you have a specific calling. For me, that calling was to make a change in the field of medicine. In Middle School I lost my Grandpa to cancer. This was a horrible blow as both of us spent a lot of time together. I knew from that point on I wanted to find a way to either find a cure for cancer or make the lives of those residing with it better. There have been all kinds of spectacular breakthroughs in cancer research & they are developing ways to knock it out on a daily basis. However, when it comes to things such as symptom management & pain management for those going through treatment there are entirely not very many options… One developing alternative to opioids or OTC pain meds is the use of medical marijuana. As it turns out my calling was in that field of study. I work at a local marijuana farm that is developing current strains of medical marijuana that is grown for cancer patients specifically. Did you actually know that the plants can be altered to fit a particular medical need. Some of them are even specific to patients that are participating in studies so they need to be carefully watched & harvested at specific times. Growing marijuana for your own personal use is so much different from growing it for medicinal purposes. The biggest difference is the amount of THC that is in the end product & although the high factor is pretty much gone, the ability to calm or stimulate the appetite definitely is not.
