I easily prefer it when I get free items with purchases both online and in stores. For many years before Spotify and AmazonMusic were considered, I would regularly get my tunes through physical media. I’m talking about vinyl records, cassette tapes, compact discs, and also the short lived laser discs from the 1970s. I was born in the early 1970s, so for years all I ever purchased was CDs from the record stores I visited. Eventually by the late 1990s I found this really huge CD and record store on the internet called CDUniverse, famously known for their penchant for including candy with every single one of their deliveries. If you were a respected customer, they would ask your candy preference and save the information in a file for every following purchase. Now that we happen to be decades into the internet as a shopping platform, a lot of people have followed in CDUniverse’s footsteps. Most notably the corporation I get our cannabis vaporizers from whenever I need a current one. But even the physical cannabis dispensaries in our town have started to include a bunch of freebies inside of your shopping bin before you head out from the store. At first you’d just get a free pack of rolling papers and a lighter with the cannabis dispensary’s name on both. Then they started offering some free candy with every purchase, somewhat playing into the whole idea of smoking marijuana and wanting to eat a ton of junk food as a snack. I will never complain, I’ll take a few sleeves of swedish fish every single time with a smile on my face. If I’m completely daring, I might actually get a piece of chocolate to go with my order.
