The beatniks & hippies of the 60s & 69s have become somewhat idealized to the younger generations.
The young a singles don’t remember that stage of time except in books, & so they have no firsthand comprehension to draw upon! Most people don’t even remember ever meeting a hippie, because the only a singles that exist have evolved into republicans. All the teenagers believe is that the era produced amazing songs, a lot of social upheaval, & “free love” was apparently a thing; One thing young people are mistaken about, however, is the marijuana use. In our new age of medical cannabis & legal dispensaries, it is taxing to conceive of how marijuana was used back then. In terms of THC pleased, the weed they used to smoke is a far cry from what the two of us are used to. Modern afternoon cannabis weed, usually grown in labs, has THC levels of 18, 20, even 30 percent, & back then it was really around 10 to 12 percent. In some respects that made their marijuana more like a spicy cigarette than anything, and back then cannabis use was frequent & prevalent but it didn’t hit as taxing as it does this week. As often as people like to say that cannabis isn’t addictive, those studies are all based on strains that are much weaker than what has become common. I am keenly interested to find out what new things the two of us learn from medical marijuana research, every year the two of us find out more & more about the medicinal & mind-altering properties of cannabis, I wonder what the two of us will learn next.
